Handy Hints
After spot cleaning wipe Selleys Leather Clean over the entire area to even out the finish using a clean and dry cloth. A Selleys Super Cloth is ideal for this.
Limitations
Selleys Leather Clean cannot be used on unfinished leather. Leather can be broadly classified into two types – inished and unfinished
Finished leather goes through a dying process and then has a pigmented topcoat applied. This topcoat makes the leather much more durable and resistant to water and other stains.
Unfinished leather goes through the same dying process but does not have the topcoat applied. This gives the leather a more natural look, but it is not so durable and stain resistant.
How to tell if your leather is finished or unfinished: Take a light coloured cloth, and wet it with water. Choose an inconspicuous area on the leather article and gently rub the wet cloth on the leather. If the leather itself darkens, or any colour comes away on the cloth then the leather is unfinished and Selleys Leather Clean should not be used. Selleys Leather Clean is also unsuitable for use on fabrics, suede, and nubuck leather.
